On October 2, a very special date.
That same day 60 years ago, October 2nd, 1950, was in fact published the first strip starring a child a little naive and hopelessly optimistic. His name is Charlie Brown.
That day they were born the Penauts, comic strips starring a group of children with their little daily adventures. Unforgettable characters like the legendary Snoopy, the beagle of Charlie, the birds as Woodstock, Lucy, the girl sly and cunning, his and the inseparable brother Linus blanket, Schroeder, Shermy, Marcy ...
From that day have enchanted children and adults with their stories, published continuously until 13 February 2000, the day after the death of the author Charles M. Schulz.
Author of texts and drawings, said much of themselves through the character of Charlie Brown, his alter ego. Schulz died on 12 Febbario 2000 AA due to a heart attack . The next day his last strip was published, in which he left in Snoopy the task of taking leave of his readers with these words:
" Dear friends,
I was fortunate to draw Charlie Brown his friends for nearly fifty years. It was the dream I had since childhood. Unfortunately, however, are no longer able to maintain the pace of work required in a daily strip. My family does not want the Peanuts are designed by someone else, and then announced my retirement.
I am grateful for the loyalty of my staff and the wonderful friendship and affection expressed by the readers of my "strip" in all these years. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy ... I will never forget ... Charles Schulz
